"I had the pleasure of performing at a Jazzmontez event for the first time as a band member of Etuk Ubong and I immediately connected to the crew, their concept and the overall vibe of the curation. I was very happy to return with my own project Àbáse and as a member of Ziggy Zeitgeist's ZFEX the following year. When John and Lorenzo told me that they would like to record a song for the upcoming compilation I knew that I would like to write something spontaneous on the spot based on our experience over the weekend. The show on Saturday was magical, we had a beautiful crowd that uplifted us and we all danced until closing time to Delfonic's DJ set. At the peak point of the night Markus (Delfonic) played a rare Hungarian record that I knew from way back, Dimenzió's "Bamba" It was absolutely explosive on the dance floor and I carried the vibe with me to the next day. I found a melody idea on an old voice memo of mine that I recorded back in Brazil, combined it with my version of the mood and chord structure of Bamba and the previous night and we quickly worked everything out on the spot with the band. It was only natural to have Dounia on the track with as too as she is a dear friend, amazing vocalist and was opening for us on both nights. I couldn't be happier with the result. This track is also the first official studio recording and release of my "Berlin band" that I founded after my arrival to Germany back in 2018. We are about to release a full length album in winter 2023 recorded entirely with this unit. Stay tuned!"
